Does CoderPad Record Your Webcam?

A camera permission prompt right before a coding test can rattle anyone. The worry is simple: is CoderPad filming you the whole time?
Here is the straight answer.
It depends on the product. CoderPad Screen can use your webcam, but only if the company turns on webcam proctoring, and even then it takes periodic snapshots rather than video. In CoderPad Interview, video is a live call you can accept or decline.
Webcam proctoring in CoderPad Screen
CoderPad says webcam proctoring is only available on Enterprise-level plans, on request. The company running your test chooses whether to enable it.
When it is on, you are prompted to activate your webcam before the test starts. From there, CoderPad describes "periodic snapshots" that are "analyzed by our AI software to identify any suspicious behavior."
CoderPad's candidate guide is direct about the limits: "These snapshots will only capture your image and will not record any video or audio."
What the hiring team sees
With AI analysis turned on, the recruiter gets a proctoring tab with alerts and the matching snapshots. CoderPad lists three patterns it checks for:
- No face detected
- Multiple faces detected
- A different face detected
If your camera is off, you are not blocked from the test. Instead, a specific alert appears in the report if the webcam is inactive for part or all of the test.
Snapshots are kept for a maximum of 90 days, then deleted automatically.
Video in CoderPad Interview
Live CoderPad interviews offer a Zoom-powered video or audio chat. Both you and the interviewer can accept or decline the video and audio permissions.
CoderPad's cheating guidance does encourage interviewers to enable video. Its docs for the call feature do not say the video is saved.
If a company uses the optional AI Notetaker, CoderPad says candidates are told the call "will be recorded to transcript only (no audio/video will be stored)." You can agree or opt out.
What this means for you
If you never see a camera prompt in a Screen test, webcam proctoring is not running. If you do, expect still images, not a recording. The one exception is audio/video questions, where you record a short clip on purpose.
